Could you help us identify this plant. It was found on a mountain trail today.

Hellebore?

Thanks, I looked up hellebore. It's a beautiful plant, but I don't think it's my plant. My plant has leaflets that branch off a central stem. It is a pinnately compound leaf. (ie. There are two leaflets on one side of the stalk. These are mirrored by two leaflets on the other side. And there is a leaflet on the end of the center rachis/stem.) The leaflets are a deep green on top and purple underneath. The edge of the leaflets are serrated.
