Afternoon everyone just stopping by to say Hi & see how everyone is doing on their easter basket I Been working on mine & Hope my partner will enjoy :)

Hope we can find a few more to join us :) Did I tell ya it is ok to send Seeds or Bulbs , little early for plants yet but a few spring time bulbs are nice .
I have mine about done but i have to pick up a few things from town yet :)

I hope i didn't scare anyone off by putting up a gift card for the best basket that is not what this is about
& I Don't want anyone to be left out of a fun or feel they cannot afford to do this swap . its not about being best .
so please forgive me , I feel i need to remove the offer of the gift card & Just want us to enjoy sharing with our partner s.

So I Hope others will also come join us & just enjoy the Fun

Everyone has chosen Easter so far, haven't they? Having an extra incentive didn't come into play when I put my name in the hat. I just want to share what I can with my Buddy. You're always a gracious hostess, Susie.

I have an idea in mind, stopped at JoAnn's Thursday for supplies and came out empty handed. I am still determined to follow though with what I want to create, even if it means having to order supplies online. Living in the boonies has it's perks and pitfalls.

Boy I hear ya Fruity! I live an more than 1/2 hour from "anywhere" that you can pick up "anything"!! I am living in a "town" of 7,000 and the good news is I live less than a mile from work. The bad news there isn't much here, but at least it is only an hour from where I call "home". My Dad, 3 of sons and Sis all live within an hour of me.

My apologies to Deejay, seems my sweetie DH forgot to tell me last night when I got home there was a box in the garage! At least he thought it came yesterday so that is scary!
Anyway DJ it arrived in fine shape and I got some fun and beautiful stuff.
I got a beautiful wreath and it is all about Easter and spring flowers and just makes me feel so much better to see something springie! I already have it hung on the mantle...so pretty. I still had my valentine swag up and now I am all dolled up for spring and Easter. Deejay made it and it is really pretty. You surely have a knack at it. Didn't know if Bugs was suppose to go in the center but he makes me smile so much I had to put him there.
I got a pink pair of gardening gloves, a bath scrubber (thank you mine was shot) a chocolate Easter bunny and he is still in the box I might add, the cutest M&M computer screen monitor cleaner, really so darn cute, a little white bunny with the happiest look on his face, then a bunch of pieces of chocolate which I love those.
DeeJay you did a great job and I love everything, couldn't of done any better.
Almost forgot I got a bunch of seeds also Hardy Moss Verbeana, fleabane, candystripe, eyeball or toothache plant... ;)

DH got reprimanded! LOL He cabbaged onto the sugar free chocolates! Bet he remembers next time to tell me I have a box...rofl.

DeeJay you are a sweetie, and thank you for letting me back in.

Edited because I forgot to tell you about the little chick ontop of the M&M screen cleaner. It is body crystals, peel & stick body art...rofl...it is great and I am going to wear it!

I put some of the candy out today. Hubs grabbed two of those Reese's eggs right off. I ate a tiny box of malted milk balls, maybe had a dozen in it...lol

Love your goodies, Happ! Cottontail looks right at home in the center of your wreath. Which is gorgeous, Susie. Don't believe I've ever seen Pink cattails. Those are neat.

Worked on my bud's wreath today. After seeing yours, I must put more thought into it! Also discovered I'm out of ribbon except the really skinny kind and some for Christmas.

Wow! You've got some happy hens. How many do you have now?

I have yet to have that heart-to-heart with the new neighbors about their free range hens and roosters tearing up the bed under our Cherry tree. Hostas are history unless they really surprise me. There were tags all over the yard. These are good people but they work weird schedules I've yet to catch on to and they are gone days at a time.

Did ya'll know you can freeze eggs? I just learned how, my mom sure didn't and we always had an over abundance of eggs. I haven't tried this but am going to with a dozen of our extra eggs, just to try. Here's how. Crack six in a bowl, add 2 T of water and lightly beat. Pour the mixture in a ziploc bag, squish out the air, zip shut and freeze flat. The idea to use bags is so several can be stacked with a piece of wax paper between each one and take up little freezer space. When you need eggs for an omelette or baking, defrost the quantity needed in a pan of water.

Morning Little Quail, let see if I can describe my wreath, so you can enjoy how pretty it is also.
It is made on twisted vine wreath and has 2 bows that are lavender attached on opposite sides (which I forgot to center when I hung the wreath).
Then circling the wreath it has 5 dark pink carnations placed around the wreath. Then there are 4 soft pink cattails (very pretty) placed around the wreath, the cattails are long tube shaped flower so they differ a lot from the carnations. Then Deejay had placed 4 pale pink lilies around the wreath and these are the largest flower, and what respecting wreath wouldn't have a white calla lily for Easter. So then tucked in the openings around the larger flowers are smaller flowers to fill it in any spots where the wreath could be showing, along with some green leaves, so you don't really see the wreath itself. Those smaller flowers are different shapes and are darker pink, some are lavender, and some are white and different shapes. Then for more Easter effect and to add more shapes, there are colored plastic eggs on sticks that poke into the wreath and they are repeated around the wreath also, along with those Suzie found some hearts that are textured like felt on sticks and they are stuck randomly in the wreath.

Susie also sent me a white stuffed rabbit, he has big ears, and eyes way up on his head, a pink nose, and a HUGE big smile. In the middle of his belly is a sewn on flower and the bottoms of his feet are pink. He is sitting in the middle of the wreath with flowers circling him and he just makes you smile.

Fruity we have 13 chickens and those chickens have not missed a beat laying eggs, course they live in the Taj MaCoop so they should lay...rofl. We have 6 ducks and we get one egg a day from them. The chickens all lay brown eggs and the duck lays a white egg. We don't know who the female is in the ducks. We do know it is not the one living in the dog crate in the garage...whole different story. LOL I have never eaten a duck egg, don't know why it just seems odd. I have read they are good for baking, but mostly I give them to the dogs.

Everybody have a great day, suppose to be almost 60 here...yes!

I think wreaths are a combination of anything that has different textures, shapes, and colors. Having said that I have a beautiful wreath that is nothing but ribbon and all the same color for Christmas.

Hi, all.
I received my box from Crystal today. Apparently, the post office tried delivering it on Wednesday but I wasn't here and they didn't leave it for me to find when I got home. And I don't know why, but they didn't even leave me a note, so I didn't know they tried delivering it!
Anyway, Crystal sent an Easter basket with the following goodies: a bag of gladiolus bulbs, mixed colors (9 bulbs); a box of homemade fudge with decorative paper around it that says "Happy Easter"; a decorative hummingbird hanger; a bottle of Beautiful Day perfume; a bottle of Carried Away body lotion; a bag of JuJu flowers (a chewy candy); and a ceramic rabbit with a floral wreath around its neck. What neat surprises! The fudge and candies are yummy :) The perfume and body lotion smell lovely. And the hummingbird and rabbit are really neat. I can Even feel a lot of the details on them! Thank you, Crystal!
My husband will help me post a picture shortly :)
Crystal and happgarden, thanks for describing the Easter wreath :) That really does sound lovely :) Quite a cool idea, susie!

O! I'd forgotten about DLST, even tho I mentioned it last weekend. Thanks for the heads up.
I haven't been able to see the new comet Panstarrs, but hope to sometime in next day or two (I mean night or two). It is supposed to be low on the horizon, so you need a clear view of the horizon. It is in the west less than an hour after sunset. We, or anyone else alive now, will EVER get another opportunity to see it. It's period is something in the thousands of years.

Michelle, I do hope you enjoy your Easter box. This is the first time I've ever sprung for the giant glads and wanted to share them with you. I am expecting great things from them. I plan to plant them a few at a time over several weeks so I can enjoy a longer season. The problem is if I dig deep enough to keep them from toppling over, they are in the subsoil.

Hi, all.
Aww, Kris, give that baby goat a pet for me. Hope she recovers soon!
I've never grown glads before. Interestingly enough, our Master Gardener friend just came to talk with our garden group earlier this week. In addition to lots of veggie seeds she brought some of the giant glads to share. She said they'll be a pink with yellow center. I picked out a clump of three of the smaller ones she had so I could try them. But I hadn't gotten around to planting them yet. Was trying to decide where to put them. The ones Crystal gave me are mixed colors, so I think I'll plant them all together in one great big container. It will be fun to find out what colors they all are! I'll see what I can do about getting a picture when they bloom :) Should have a chance to plant them this week as the weather is supposed to be warming up again.
O-o-ohh, that would explain why there's a hook on the bottom of the hummingbird... It's A plant hanger! :) Hmmm, we have an apple tree in our yard, so maybe I can use it to hang a pot from one of its branches :) I'll have to think about what to grow in the container. I hesitate to put up a birdfeeder there as we have cats and squirrels in the neighborhood. So I'm thinking a nice shade/partial shade loving plant could work well :)

But I ave to be honest,, I was shocked at the price of milk for her. It costs about $65.00 a bag!!!!!! Her meds were only $49.00 and that included shots for a full week of antibiotics! So we will be spending a lot less at home depot and lowes for a wife.. sigh...LOL.

Ya'll, A wave of hundreds of Robins landed in our field over the week-end. Such an awesome sight! and a sure sign Spring is just around the corner. Trees are starting to bud too. I talked to our Japanese Cherry tree today on my way to the mailbox. She's always been in full bloom for my birthday and after 20 years living here, I expect to see the same beautiful show.

I'm playing hookey Thursday through Sunday. Can't wait to get out of Dodge to visit a couple of friends. Among other things, I'll be on a mission to find ribbon or a bow for the finishing touch on my bud's wreath.

The candy stash is dwindling, have been pretty good only eating the one small box of malted milk balls and a couple of Reese's eggs.
Susie, hubs noticed your 'memory pills' in the mix and is just a matter of time before they're history. Not real pills, ya'll, lol ...just plain ol' M&M's dressed up in pastel colors for Easter.

http://www.ehow.com/how_6385186_plant-dutchman_s-pipe-seed-pod.html

1
Collect dutchmanís pipe seed pods while they are brown but before they open. Some pods may open with a gentle squeeze; otherwise us a small, sharp knife to slice it open and remove the seeds.

2
Soak the seeds in room-temperature water for 24 hours.

3
Fill a seeding flat with seed starting mix, and water it until the soil is consistently moist. Allow the water to completely drain from the bottom of the flat.

4
Sow the seeds on the surface of the soil in the flat, 2 inches apart. Cover them with a thin layer of sand. The seeds should just barely be covered.

5
Place the flat in an area in which the temperature remains between 55 and 60 degrees F. Maintain a moist, not soggy, soil. Germination time varies depending upon variety.

6
Transplant the seedlings into 6-inch pots, filled with potting soil, when they reach 4 inches in height. Place in a well-lit area (not in direct sun) until spring, when they can be transplanted into the garden.

I have been told by several people that I should have the plants here, because we get the caterpillars, and butterflies all the time here, but I have yet seen any of the plants.

Oh Fruity that is the most beautiful picture...omg, if you guys didn't expand it you are really missing out...you are really talented when it comes to taking pictures. Would love to print that and hang it in a frame in my garden room...would you care?

deejay, hummm memory pills, if it is like anything else, I would have to remember to take them...which seems to be a problem...rofl.

Yes, I wish I would be smart enough to think about packing before picking a project, but I get excited sometimes about things I am sending and just don't think about the end result. My box is not heavy, just sort of an awkward size, but thank goodness for work cause I found a box and checked the weight so not bad to mail priority in a normal box at all. ALMOST ready. Just a couple of things to finish up...

A word of caution about Dutchman's Pipe vines. They become invasive some places. I have been growing A. fimbriata for several years, and in the past 2 years they have started coming up in the floor of the greenhouse and also at one place in the yard near where I had a handing basket of them. A. fimbriata is a short plant about 12/14 inches for me, but some species are absolutely huge. They are strikingly beautiful to me though.

Well finished up two more things for the Easter basket! I am getting closer and closer...have one more decision to make...geehz...to do or not to do? rofl.

Glad you are feeling better Miss DeeJay, that has to be miserable.

We are going to hit high 60's today and then high 70's tomorrow before plunging back into cold temps just in time for the weekend!

I am going to decorate a friends office here at work for her 40th birthday...anyone got any good ideas? I am going to hang 40 black balloons from the ceiling, I have cut out a punch of small sayings and stuck to the bottom of hersey kisses using neon duck tape, going to hang 40 signs around her office with 40 written on them...any other suggestions? Needs to be cheap...rofl...

Take either real or silk rose stems, pull over the rose bud and slide prunes on, it looks like black roses.
Hang black wreath on door.
Give all employees black arm bands, they are NOT to tell her why. Just look at her sadly and shake head.

Susan /FOTV sent to me a wonderful Easter gift. Doing happy dance today. This one of the most clever ideas for a wreath I have ever seen. I just love it. I was like a little kid when I saw this wreath. I couldn't wait to hang it on my door I ran out into the garage looking for my wreath hanger. Don't mine the orange Halloween hanger. The only one I could find. I think my hubby put my gold one in the attic after Christmas . I get it tomorrow. I was on lunch break when I received it, or I would have torn the garage and the attic apart looking for the gold hanger. I just love creative ideas, and anything handcrafted. I enjoy putting a wreath on my door for the holidays. She also sent me a yummy candy bar too. If my hubby helps me find that gold hanger. I just might share my candy bar with him. LOL

I received a another beautiful gift from Susan / FOTV on Friday. I want to first to appologized to Fruity/Susan for not posting sooner. I have sent packages in the past , and that person didn't post. I was worried to death. I sincerely appogized to you Susan. There is no excuse. I should have taken the time, and posted. I won't hide behind the computer, and act like everything is ok. That is not me. I was wrong. I am very sorry.

I want thank you for the beautiful gifts you have sent me . This beautiful Party lite candle holders is even pretty than the in picture. When you put the candle inside of it, it glows. It was stufffed with all of my favorite candies. Which I sampled immediately. I was showing it to my daughters over the weekend and the cool wreath you sent me Susan/ Fruity . They both really like my gifts. Thank you for taking the time and effort ,and so being so thoughtful . I really do appreciate you and your wonderful gifts. Again thank you.

We bought our house 5 years, and we have been remodeling. I am finally working on my living room, and this will fit perfectly in it. I am truly blessed.

Susie I cross posted after you, I am so bad about starting something and then work gets in the way and I send the post way late. Glad you liked your present. The the geese reminded me of you and your birds. I loved doing the picture especially knowing I was doing it for you. Work does have it's benefits...rofl...that box was a pc monitor course it is big enough for a tv.

Lots of snow here on Sunday, should be in the high 50's normal, we are in the 20's with snow drifts...rofl...poor bunny.

I did do the picture Linda Kay, it is pen and ink with watercolor. I saw the image in a book and I just thought it was so Susie for some reason. I use to do it alot but somehow hadn't done it in a long time. Good thing about doing the picture was it didn't anything...rofl, so it left me money to get some other stuff. Kind of a stretch with the basket ducks(geese) and Easter...but...rofl.

There are so many great presents coming in and such a variety, it is so much fun to see what everyone receives and so many good ideas to use...rofl cause heaven knows I don't have an imagination.

Patti, I'm glad the tealite holder made it in one piece! I was afraid the bag of candy stuffed inside or can of French Vanilla mix were going to jostle too much. Your wreath was a lot of fun to put together. The original idea came from Neener when she made a couple for our round-up as 'door prizes'...lol Enjoy!

happ, you have a new calling when you retire! Very nice artwork. How did you personalize the wrapper? Too clever.

Making the candy wrappers are so easy I imagine any word type program will work, I happen to use Microsoft Word. I find a picture that I like or clip art that I like. Then open word, then click insert picture, then it will give you the option of making it as big or little as you need for your wrapper. Then insert a text box and key in what every you want. It is really a great idea for birthdays, showers, or just special people you want to make one for. Mine would of probably look more finished if I would of put a border around it but one of those things I missed at the time. Fruity it is alot of fun, just remember to save it along the way...rofl...so if the second or third step messes up, you don't have to start from the beginning...rofl...words of experience ;) Once you get the size set and you use the same size candy bar, you can just replace the picture and text and you are off. Then just stick it around the candy bar and close it using double stick tape or glue stick to close it up.

Guys thank you for the words of encouragement on the watercolor, you all are so nice.

My daughter comes over on the weekend ,and she always check out my coffees. She can't find that one. The candy was yummy too. The Reese egg didn't last long after it arrived. LOL

I just ran to the kitchen and pulled out the can of cappuccino, so I can have it for tomorrow morning before I go to work. It's a nice way to start a day. Thanks!

Adorable. You did such a beautiful job with your crocheting, Michelle.

Google See's candy, it is very popular in California, good for any occasion. I remember boxes were available in every grocery store and See's had stores in the malls when I lived there. Seems like some places you could pick individual pieces. Delish candies. We always had a box or two around the office.

Yay, LK received her basket! :)
Actually, See's has stores in several states, all west of the Mississippi River. Very yummy chocolate :)
I crocheted both the basket and the daffodils. (Daffs actually come in all the colors I made for LK, and more, though some colors are more common than others.)
I made up my own pattern for the basket. LK's was the first I made. Working on my third one now. They've all been different sizes.
For the daffs, I made my first ones last year. I started with a pattern I found on the internet, but didn't like how the petals were done. So I redesigned the petals to use my own pattern.
LK received the chocolate lovers basket :) Those eggs actually contain quite an assortment of yummy treats: various kinds of chocolates from See's, Cadbury, and Ghirardelli, Reese's peanut butter eggs, and Jelly Belly assorted jellybeans.
LK, I'm glad it all made it to you in good shape!
Had a lot of fun doing the crocheting and getting the yummy goodies! :)
Susie, thanks for organizing this swap :)
I think I'm going to make me a basket the same size as LK's, only it will be in shades of greens and browns/beige to match our futons. Not exactly sure which colors yet, but I rather liked having a basket sitting on the futon to put crochet projects in or other little items that I don't want to lose :)

My Easter Box came today!!! What a cute bunny basket! Being able to crochet is so wonderful!
And in the basket was two dishtowels with the crocheted hanger tops. (I put one up in my refrigerator right away) And a matching potholder. So cute and springy! Also were 2 yellow plastic eggs filled with taffey (Yum) and two "egg plants" These are clay eggs with vermiculite in them and seeds already in there. You crack a hole in the top and add water, and the plant germinates and comes out of the hole where you put the water. I thought I would make a neat little hole like the directions described, but nah. But that should not affect the plants. Neat idea.
AND, a box of Ferraro Rocher. They are truffles (Chocolate-yum) with almonds on the outside. These are a favorite around here. I gave hubby one as soon as I got the picture made as he loves them so. (And I had one, too!)
Thanks Patti! This is great!

GardenQuail all I can say is wow, to change a pattern, even with help from DH, I couldn't change a pattern, I can barely follow a pattern. I thought in my younger years I would of worn the basket as a hat and pinned the flowers on the side. Use to love to wear hats.

Think I should of been born in the 40's when we wore hats, course I love the music from the 40's and 50's. Only problem with that era is I wouldn't of fit in that era as far as what a women should do. Always wondered how my Mom made it because she was always a strong women. I am so glad you received your basket in time for Easter Crystal. I wish I could take credit for the bunny basket ,but can't . A elderly lady sells them to help make ends meet. I wish I had her talent. When my children were little my mother - in - law use to make them for my girls. I lost them after several moves. I wish I had kept them for their little girls. I brought another for my granddaughter. I will love them, and they bring back a lot of sweet memories.

If Elfie is sitting in the corner, I know she is busy.
I was very pleased with the bunny basket and the hang up towels--well everything. It is a great gift, and next time you see the woman who made it, tell her how much I liked it.

I have been feeling lonely the past couple days. Thinking about my family and the fact that most of the originals now are resting in the cemetery at Macedonia. My brother is busy with his little boy and all the egg hunts, etc. My nephew wants to go to a tractor show instead of having lunch with me (I told him was fine, I will be here, but tractor show is not every weekend). Kids i do not hear from much (as much as I would like). So yesterday I worked in the yard til I was about ready to drop. Then came in and cooked supper. That will make me drop the pity party.
I also made a coconut cake, because that and ham are Easter foods for me. I made one of those punch cakes where you use Lopez cream of coconut and topped with Kool whip and cococnut. I am sure it is artery clogging, but once a year should not matter so much. yummm! So good.

Coconut Lopez cake

make a sheet cake. A boxed cake is Ok. I used Duncan Hines Coconut, but any yellow cake (or white) is fine. French Vanilla would be good or made from scratch.
Combine a can Lopez cream of coconut (any cream of coconut is OK), and a can sweetened condensed milk.
After cake is done, but still hot, punch holes all over the cake using a fork and pour cream coconut and condensed milk mixture over the warm cake.
After it cools a bit, put kool whip on top and sprinkle with coconut.
store in refrigerator

Not exactly rocket science, but fast, easy, delicious.

"slightly" off topic but Goober's question if the Easter Bunny like Santa, reminded me. I saw a St Patrick's day card that said, "It's OK to pretend to be Irish on St Patty's Day...(inside) You pretend to be good at Christmas!"

family was here yesterday, my house is back in order now. Linda (Taters) they all ooooo'd & Awwwww'd over my Pretty Easter eggs I used as center piece. You know, it's a LOT easier looking over a Easter egg basket center piece than a big blooming Easter Lily!!! hehehe Thanks again, they are lovely.

My turn! This is so funny. When our mail lady pulled in the driveway, she hopped out and said she had something for me and handed over several dozen eggs from her farm. Then she unloaded a big box that was half plastered with stamps. We have a neighbor who collects and tried to save most of them for her. One glance at the return address and I couldnít wait to come in out of the wind and dive in.

There were three bunny ornaments, just perfect for a container of flowers or placed in one of my friendship bowls. Arenít these just the cutest? Rabbits are among my favorite garden critters, strictly ornaments and not the real furry ones.

A chocolate bunny. I donít know about the rest of you, but I always bite the head off first.

A gorgeous ceramic lamb was just chocked full of green Easter grass and candy, all sorts from Mint to Hazelnut one of my favs, Snickers to Peanut Butter, lots of chocolates, and even jelly beans and gummies in their own eggs. Thereís enough candy to last us six months. Hubs will get some too but will never find the bag in the freezer.

Thank you, Elfie. Love it all but the Lamb is just awesome! I am grateful for the gifts you shared and for our friendship.
