Pink Silk came from you, Jackie I am sure. I found the packet from last year.It says "on outside patio"
I usually mark on the seed packets or in my journal when I plant seeds.
This one was from Emma.

Deb, I'm sure the Pink silk sds were not from me.. I only had 4 or 5 from Becky to start
with. My vine in 2011 made 1 sd and 2012 vine made a total of 4 sds. Becky might have shared with you.
Dany says his Purple silks are sterile in one of his recent
posts on his thread. So I imagine the Pink Silks are too.

Jackie and Debra love all your pretty blooms. Neat bug, bet it has weird name.

My camera is doing it again, changing the deep purple color to blue. This is the first bloom but I'm pretty sure when it warms up the blooms will be large and nice. Just wish I could get the color right.

just like your bloom did. Your g sons pic does look more purple. Maybe he's a budding photographer :-)

Linda, blooms stay open longer when the temps are Spring like or Fall like. They don;t wilt
like they do in excessive summer temps. :-) Also lots of times, my 1st bloom on a new vine will stay open
thru the 2nd day like it has too much energy stored up to close up at the end of the day, kinda like a MG on

hi LK, we won't know how the radiation helped with killing the bone tumors on her hip/pelvic area for a couple weeks, she told me it hurts to lay or sit really bad, but now she can at least stand on her own. She has been on break from chemo and started that back up today, and she is glad to be doing that since we were told there was "improvement" last chemo period test results. No change or new tumors on the liver, but she did not know there were two spots on her lung, and there was a slight decrease in size of the lymph nodes with cancer, and the fluid was minimum on her lungs and none around her heart. We took that as a victory and went to Branson to celebrate that two weeks ago. Now that she has been off the chemo she started feeling sick and was afraid the cancer has spread, so that is why she is always glad to be on the chemo. I told her to think positive and quit letting her paranoia and fears take over her attitude as we know that worry and negativity can manifest cancer growth.
I had a few more glorys greet me the other morning while it was snowing heavily outside..

Beautiful blooms Debra. .
I wonder if there is some really soft padding your sis can get to relieve some of the pain while she's setting or laying down.
ow about some of the soft downy filling for stuffing pillows or cushions? Might make sitting and laying down less painful.
That comes in the solid pieces too not just the loose stuffing. She could lay it in the center of her bed for some relief from the pressure points???
Im encouraged by her small victories. Have to win the small battles one by one and hopefully will find that she's won the war.
I'm still praying for a return to good health for your sis.

Love the MIL's too,Jackie, and I have the favorite of yours plus a wide yellow margine and a spotty looking one. and of course the stripey one, well they are all cool I think. Will have to send you a pup from the wide sword yellow green one.
I have lots of peppers,LK, and yes they are all edible and I will be having some on ebay soon for sister money, who isn't doing so hot right now. I love the BK too, Helena, I am anxious to try one from your seed. I am going to count my tomatoes tonight, they are all about 5 inches tall now.

Pretty plants Debra and peppers. I still have 3 pepper plantsfrom last year too. Hope your sis feel better.

Nice plants Jackie, you have a large variety of them.

Well yesterday I nicked and soaked 72 mg seeds. Today I wrapped them individually in damp paper towels with their labels and placed in plastic bag on top of fluorescent light in laundry room. Hopefully when I check them tomorrow some will be ready for their little cup pots. I'll be preparing the little cup pots in the meantime, guess I'll have my work cut out for me. Have a bloom in gh but since it got real cold last night don't know if it'll open today or tomorrow.

Helena, wish I had the energy to start that many. I do have 10 to 15 up of Dany's mostly. They're needing to go
into bigger pots and needing sun too. I don't have time to mess with them, trying to do 2 sets of taxes. Maybe in
a couple of days.

Ronnie, not quite. Mostly Danys (about 40 seeds) are mixes so I expect them to be different. Then I have many that have 2 or 3 seeds of each. But I'm not done, I just stopped then cause I got enterrupted and decide it was enough for a couple of days. I intend on nicking and soacking a lot more seeds. Still have a lot of favorites that I want to grow.

It turned out to be a beautiful sunny day even if it was very chilly till noon.

Nice pictures Debra. Your plants look great. Beautiful picture of all that snow.

Well, I was disappointed with 2 of my blooms in gh this morning. I guess it just got too cold during the night. I checked my seedlings and a lot from of Dany had good roots so I got them in their little cup pots. My older seeds need a day or two longer on top of the fluorescent lights. I don't have all of Dany's seeds started, somehow I missed baggies #4, #5 and #6 that I have to nick and soak some from those. I hope that by the end of March it'll be warm enough to start bringing plants out of the gh.
It's been a lot colder this year than in the past at this time but amazingly not a real bad frost to kill a lot of my tropical that would have to start over again.

Ronnie, I hope it warms up for all of us. Still it's a beautiful day here.

Too cold for comfort here in the mornings. But here's a peek at my seedlings, the fun part is seeing how some stem are dark, some very green and some with just some color. I'm really looking forward to growing these.

Your baby seedlings look good Helena. Mine are all stretched out, reaching for the light. But, since they're vines, it won't hurt em.
Still, I could lose them if I don't get them repotted and down to the g house for a little sun.
I can retrieve my pics now from the flashdrive. Everytime I exit one pic, it takes me to the slide show, how aggravating. Just
trying to figure it out one step at a time. Did I say I hate windows 8??

Thanks Jackie, mine are a little long stem too. Sometimes even window 7 does weird stuff too, frustrating to see the least.

Not a sure thing Linda but the color of the stem can mean that there's a possibility of the flowers being dark. I know that Dusky x Fujishibori has green stem and specks going up the stem. Redish stems are likely to be a pink bloom and a green stem could be a white or light color bloom, and dark purple stem I usually get dark blooms (like black king, or purple blooms. It's just neat to anticipate and maybe be surprised with what might bloom.

Love all the beautiful blooms, Helena and Debra. Helena, love the tobacco tree.
Is it fragrant? Some of them are.
Debra, the tobaccos are tropical, annuals to carry over in the g house or restart from sds each spring.
But easy to start from sds, grow like
any tropical.
linda, you can usually find the tobacco tree as sds.

A good source for Nicotinas is http://jlhudsonseeds.net/ that's where I got my first seeds from. My favorite's are Nicotiana glauca (slow started from seed though), Nicotiana mutibilis (light pink flowers), I hope some of my other seedlings are from those, and Nicotiana tobacum (wild pink). They make loads of seeds but will have to wait awhile for those. They would grow good in TX and CA and other states too. jlhudson has a few pictures and I might be ordering a few others from him.

This mg is the only bloom I got today

A beautiful bloom Helena. Just love it.
Yes I order all my tobacco sds and most of all my other sds from Mr Hudson. What I miss is that
he can no longer offer the Zapotec sds. I ordered tons
of them and then let them age to the point they're no longer viable. :-(
