    it is familiar but I need to rely on the sharp people in this forum for a definitive ID. Pic of flower, foliage and the base I got. thanks for your help

    Looks like Coral Bean, Erythrina herbacea. A native flowering shrub.

    erythrina is what i was thinking of, but the erythrina I had once looked different than this one. thanks

    HI,

    For me it is Coral Bean, Erythrina herbacea. May be your previous plant was not a Coral Bean, is it possible or not ?

    Most of the other Erythrina have intense scarlet flowers, but Coral Bean are more pink like the flowers on your picture. The leaves are the same too.

    e. crista galli is the one I used to have. It was becoming unruly so I have it away.
