The blooms show it to be in the Papilionaceae family (Pea Family) - Wisteria, Millettia, etc. Each of the blooms on your first pic show small pea-like blooms. Lilac (Syringa) has a very different bloom in the Oleaceae family. You can look through the Papilionaceae family: http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/b/Papilionaceae/none/none/cultivar/0/

I think Milettia is probably the correct genus, but there are many species to look through. Taiwanensis is the most common but not the only one available in the trade.
