1st time ever, have I spotted this duck in our area lake. Thanks in advance for your help identifying this beautiful bird.

That's a male Wood Duck. We had a m/f pair roost in one of our trees one night. It's a great bird!

Thank you for your help Chillybean. One of my friends nearby has said that he used to have Wood Ducks nesting in his old tree standing in his pond garden. Wow, what a special experience it's to see these terrific birds nesting activity in one's backyard.
