SOLVED: No idea at all

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

So a few weeks ago I was looking at a small bed near my pool it has a few plants that like wet soil and not too much sun. I noticed this root sticking mostly out of the ground and started wondering what did I plant there? So today I noticed that it is definitely growing even though the roots are almost completely out of the ground.
So can any of you ID this for me.

Petasites japonica or similar species.

LOL Oh yes that is my Lingularia I don't think I have ever seen it in this stage. It was just put in last summer. Thank you so very much.

I don't believe it is Ligularia. They bloom later with a different type of bloom. Maybe what you thought was Ligularia is actually Petasites.

Thanks I will check out the differences.

I found out that I was indeed given a Petasites at last years plant swap and I planted it next to the Ligularia that was already there. Thanks again for the info.
