Got this plant at a plant sale at the Mitchell Park Domes in Milwaukee. Month somewhat shiny green leaves, woody trunk, and spotty/speckled white and dark brown stems. Any idea what it is? Thanks!
It's most likely a Schefflera. I'd opt for Schefflera elegantissima. There are quite a few cultivars and the foliage changes as the plant passes through its juvenile, adolescent and adult phases. Apart from being variegated, this one ( http://pics.davesgarden.com/pics/2010/10/20/plantladylin/fc7056.jpg ) is pretty close to yours. Here's what the adult foliage looks like: http://www.photosbotanical.com/img11112.htm . You plant could easily be 3m tall before its gets those leaves and it will eventually become a small tree.
