Living in zone 5, Maine and found this in a new garden bed. Not sure if it something coming back from last year or a weed. Help is appreciated!

If it grew to about knee-high, it could be Gaura lindheimeri?

I'm new to this forum but I believe I have the same plant, try Ajuga reptans 'dixie chip', the pictures of it on DG aren't the best but if you do a web search it seems to be the one. Hope this helps. Oh and it sends out a vertical flower that blooms blue.

Sometimes flowers are necessary to really confirm the IDs

Flowers will be helpful but it's not Ajuga reptans.

Could it be bee balm?
