Hi. I'm in South-eastern Pennsylvania. This 10-12" plant has propagated all over our backyard. some leaves on the stalk, about 12 leaves at the top with small purple flowers. weak roots, easy to pull out. no distinctive aroma.

Any help in identifying this plant would be appreciated.

Looks like Lamium purpureum, red deadnettle. A very common weed in your area and much of the rest of North America.

absolutely correct. It'll yellow and die back soon but beware the seeds left behind.
