I have tons of these plants covering a hill in my backyard. They are low to the ground (at least as of now) and have veiny, soft leaves. Located in western Massachusetts.
I agree. For a moment I thought it might also be Aconitum but Geranium fits better.
Looks much like my Goldenseal - Hydrastis canadensis when the new leaves first emerge.
what color are the flowers? is it Wild Geranium [Geranium maculatum]?
I also agree with geranium.
Hydrastis canadensis, even new leaves, have a different margin that to say with sharp teeth.
Geranium on this picture have a round teeth.
I know it's a small technical difference !
