I'm a sucker for unknown agaves...

Carmichael, CA(Zone 9b)

6 more babies in two mixed succulent pots on clearance at the grocery store. The first, am I correct in thinking it is a desmettiana? The 2nd I don't know, americana? It's leaves look fatter/ shorter than the one I have and the stripes are reversed color wise and The tips are burgundy.

Just realized the one behind the one I thought was desmettiana is all dark, with teeth. So maybe I have three unknowns.

I see two flavors, A. desmettiana and A. americana v. medio-picta alba.

Re: Unknown Agaves. I have the same affliction. At last count, I'm up to 135 varieties, and there are still plenty more. It may be a thin line that separates 'collector' from 'hoarder', but I'm pretty sure I crossed it.
