Until I processed the shot, I hadn't noticed the strange-looking eye on the bird, which I had assumed to be a Grackle. Is it, indeed, a Grackle or something else?

I am not a birder, but I always thought Grackles had those strange looking eyes.

Miss Mary,

I think the bird's nictitating membrane is partially moved across the eye and that is what makes the eye look weird in this case. It does look like a common grackle to me.
