Love the Lady Margaret, mine vines are getting swallowed up by Zebra caterpillars, but thank goodness they don't eat the flowers.
Rain, rain and more rain here...I feel like I live in the tropics this week. A tropical system in the Gulf will still bring us more rain today, tomorrow and the next day. Garden is very happy though. Muggy, but not too hot, mid 80's.
My indoor cats on the porch watching a squirrel outside...their favorite activity.
More rain here in Iowa yesterday. Where we are in central Iowa has received 15 inches in the last 2 weeks. We have plants actually drowning right in the ground. I guess this ends our drought from last year! Most of our grasses, bee balm and hostas look great. But some of the other plants like the daylilies, ferns and sempervivum are really showing the stress of too much moisture. We are supposed to be dry here now until Sunday. It would be nice if it could be a little warmer, but I'll take the dry for now.
Hi Sunkissed, thanks.Yes we are getting the thunder storm. It started raining in the early morning and it has not stopped yet.It has cooled down,it is in the upper 60's.I know what you mean.I hope she doesn't turn into one either.I know during this season y'all get hit pretty bad.
I just want y'all to know, once the thread gets long,i will not be able to post until a new thread is started.I use my cell phone for the internet thats why.
73/56 Cool mornings and evenings ,having what is referred to as (Hazy Sunshine) few hours of hot sun late afternoons the past couple of days ,
Late next week, hot weather returns . still waiting for our first 90 degree day ,,
Well as to forecast register anyway ,,a few 88 degrees a week ago had a few thermometers at 91 degrees or so ..
Nice for the moment though , no named storms , tornadoes , floods , straight line winds, wild fires , earthquakes. or volcanoes popping up in the back yard ,,
Thinking about it that way ... I'm Happy !!!
Currently 72. Had sunshine all day and I took advantage to take down my bittersweet vine that was to agressive for my tree stump and little chicken wire. Not done yet though. Gotta get a tall person to reach up high and to help pull out vine stumps.
Made a new friend today...poor Mrs. Warbler ran into our kitchen window. I picked her up and held her until she could hold herself up and her eyes stopped looking funny. Then I set her in a pot and eventually she flew off to her home bush, nest and mate.

Beautiful day here in NW PA. Low humidity and temps in the 70's. Still drying out a bit from all the rain on Thursday and Friday. We had 2" but other nearby locations had as much as 5" and some flooding.
I managed to get most of the flower beds edged today, worked on the blueberry patch, mulched the tomatoes. did some mowing and potted up a huge Bushmaster tomato plant I found at a local greenhouse on clearance and ran it out to my in-laws.
Cool photos Kelli!
Kwanjin... Does that elderberry produce edible berries?
Loving all the photos everyone is posting. Almost a full day of no rain yesterday, but it did sun-rain on me while out working in the garden...felt good. Sunny today and up to 94, getting summer temps here now.
More rain today. We got 0.51" by the time I woke up at 6am. We sure do need it but I hope that when it's over it gets dry and clears out. I don't want any fungus (in the garden) problems like last year. It was unusually humid last year.
Turned out to be a lovely day today but it will be cool tonight. My fuchsias are loving this weather. I'm so happy I learned how to make moss baskets (they put on a much better show in them vs. the plastic ones for me)

Got another 1.5 inches of rain last night, knocked the power out, wicked lightning. The kitties were even scared. Up to mid 90's again today and a chance of rain again. At least it was only 72° when I awoke this morning.
We missed the storm yesterday by a couple miles.
The big storm that is in Washington DC area this morning, started 10 miles east of here yesterday afternoon. It blew down trees & power lines in a town 20 miles SE of us.
We got .7" of rain. 3 miles NE of us got a gully washer of over 2" in 20 minutes.
Nice sunny day today. 56º going for 80's.
Sun & 80's predicted for next 10 days with a thunderstorm possible any day.
Hey, that is Minnesota summer, finally!
77/55 68 Degrees here right now . cool wind . last nights severe stormy weather went farther north . lightning thunder and lots of rain here though , the winds and tornadoes all happened in the counties to the north of here .
Feels cool here .
Currently 78 with a high in the low 80s and sunny all day.
A friend of mine got caught at the Iowa border in the storms last night. He's a trucker and at one point he was trying to just get the semi to shelter and couldn't even get the truck to go anywhere at full speed. The wind was holding him back and pushing him sideways also. He ended up with hail damage to the tarp on his trailer but otherwise he came out ok in the storm.
Mighty fine tractor Lilypon, I even watched the video. I didn't realize you had a farm.
Kelli I remember that about California, all along the coast is much cooler in the summer than inland... 20 miles inland can be a 25 degree difference. Unfortunately I lived close to San Bernardino it got very hot there. Happy vacation.
Early bloomer, cute kiddos.
No storms here, hot sunny, got up to 93 today while I was out and about, felt like 100, now at 4:30, it is 89°/29% humidity.
Sunkissed the farm belonged to my father. When my Swiss great grandfather came out to the prairies from Ontario he got the land. He drew it up to be a family company and when I inherited the title of president upon my father's death I felt physically sick. Thank goodness I have some wonderful advisors or I'd truly be lost.
We are having another downpour so our crops will be jumping now (well once the warmth comes back). Unlike Bernie we don't grow corn but we do grow Mediterranean type crops like chickpeas, field peas, lentils, canola, durum, barley, canary seed, sunflowers (and winter wheat and oats some years). Since the 30 year drought (more or less) ended here our land has had so much snow fall on it and the hills below it that a regular tractor couldn't work about 1/2 of the land but with the Soucy track system there isn't slippage or compaction so what couldn't be planted before has been planted this year (and the crop has no problem breaking through the soil that the tractor went over).
Monsoon season has made a return here as well. Lots of scare you silly thunder and oh my is the rain ever coming down hard. Should move on quickly though.
My Hawaiian Sunrise vine blooming on the dark and cool Canadian prairies. It has a case of edema (sure doesn't like the coolness/overcast skies here right now). Will have to be careful watering it. Hoping the sun comes out and my greenhouse warms up.
Well we had quite the storms here yesterday and early this am. Limbs down in our yard, my greenhouse lost some panes (but my plants in it survived though some outside were sent for a ride), and locals reported it sounded like a freight train going through town (I was up too late watching radar so missed the excitement here this morn). Monsoon rains falling as well. Alberta is drowning (esp near the Rocky Mountain Foothills). My daughter is in Medicine Hat, Alberta and boy did they have a nasty storm blow through there last night. So happy for FB to keep up with what was happening there and to remind her to head to the basement (tornadoes did touch down below her city).
14C last time I checked ... hope we warm up soon.
Looks like the storms are going to be East and South of us today according to a North Dakota met attached to my FB:
""...severe risk is pretty good for Thursday late afternoon and night for eastern ND into northwest-west central Minnesota...northeastern South Dakota and probably southern Manitoba. The first widespread outbreak of the season. Be alert."
90s here also. Around 95 was supposed to be the high with heat index around 101. I just know it was hot, humid and a little breezy this morning but it started dying off later and just became occasional.
Everyone be careful in the heat. Several people I know have already gotten heat strokes and we've only been this hot for a few days.
We are praying for our families and thank you Cville_Gardener
I've got a daughter in Medicine Hat (she should be safe) but a friend has a number of family members that have been evacuated in the Hat.
This will be the 2nd worst natural disaster in Canada's history. Estimates are in the 5 billion dollar range.
Flood waters will soon be in my province. We are draining a lake as fast as we can. This much water hasn't flowed in the South Saskatchewan river for over 100 years.
Today it was in the mid 70's here with sunny skies, normal storm clouds went by (thankfully shelf clouds weren't to be seen). And all here are very happy for Albertans that they didn't get any more monsoon rains today...we aren't the tropics: rainfalls of 5+ inches on top of snow covered mountains on top of recent previous rainfalls is a disaster of epic proportions in the making.
T storms at this hour here , guess we are going to have one every day ,, Nice break at or from 94 degrees with a blazing sun ..
I won't complain about to much water though Especially after reading through here , (this thread ) Wow!!! are some of our northern neighbors getting hammered
Temps dropped to about 80 here, like poof , and ""ah"" that feels good !!!!lol
Not much change here. All the rain that ju is hogging formed here but really developed east of here. We could use it!! lol. The way I look at it is, if my road (limestone gravel) is gonna be full of potholes and crumbling at the edges it might as well rain so that I can have something to blame it on. lol
Night time storms moving this way , in an hour or two , severe t-storm and flash flood warnings here for tonight . 88 degrees still , hot humid , hoping the storms are not to severe ..
IT was sunny and burning hot here today ,,
picked a few plums .. he he
Humid as usual in the South in the summer. Highs in the low 90s. Slight chance of a thunderstorm. I do hope we get some of the cloud cover we've had the past two days. That makes it seem cooler anyway. :)
Awakened as the power returned , last nights storms , all night, no power .
Seems to be a redundant story , well fact , more than story . love these cool mornings . Only not being drenched , soak and wet ..
It was 95 at noon today. That was supposed to be our high. The highest around here that was reported was 98 on the news but I'm thinking in my neck of the woods we may have gotten a bit hotter. The good news is there was a slight breeze so that helped some.
It hit 100 here today according to the news. It was 93 at 10:20 when they gave the weather. It is supposed to cool down by Wed...93 I think they said. Rain Thurs and Friday... No plans for the 4th so that's OK with me. We sure need the rain!
Well our coolness is heading down South :'( today looks to be the last of it. It was so nice and cool inside the house this am (like we had A/C).
At the weather site, that I belong to, the Texans are shorting their keyboards with drool over the strong possibility the coolness (and rain) might make it down to them. A fellow in Chicago however called it garbage Canadian weather *snort* (he likes to par broil come summer). I reminded him the devastating flooding we just got was from a system that came up from Montana.
Moose Jaw, SK
Current Weather 14:05 CST
A few clouds
81º Not sure if it is the high for today. Sunshine all day. Things are growing nicely.
Picked 30 pints of strawberries, 5 gallon pail of summer squash + zucchini & a big bunch of cucumbers. We will have fun selling them tomorrow!
It is and has been raining for a couple weeks way down here, and already is again this morning, just soggy! My garden looks like a tropical forest and the skeeters add to the tropical feel. High 85, humidity is 96%.
Hope not !!! but it could happen , no flood here since a few years ago , one a decade is plenty and then some ,
It is reaching saturation though , and that might not be good !!!
Puddles setting all day now .. that usually says the water has no place to go ..
