SOLVED: Shrub ID Please

Ivanhoe, TX

This is not my mystery but a friend's I'm trying to help. I've emailed and ask for any flower/berrie descriptions if it has them and will update when I get the answer. Maybe someone can ID w/o that info though. Thanks for any input.

"This is some brush that grows on my grandparents place...my grandparents place is about 50 miles west of Austin ... it has kind of a bitter smell when you break off a limb ... "

Texas kidneywod, maybe? (Eysenhardtia)

Thanks Terry, the leaves sure look like a match as does the overall brush. I'm waiting on my friend to answer about the white blooms I see when I do a image search using the term. Thanks again I will update.

Terry, he said that's definitely it! Thanks again. :-)

Yay! We can chalk that one up to a lucky guess. My first thought when I saw the leaves, was something along the lines of either a mimosa (Albizia) or honey locust. But given the absence of thorns and by the looks of the brush, I scratched those off and did a little searching.
