My mom calls these Bride & Groom, where the white ones are the Bride and the purple ones are Groom. Is this correct? These flowers seem to spread a lot once established.

They are Mallows, possibly Malva moschata - Musk Mallow but without seeing the leaves it's too hard to tell for certain.
