I live in Western North Carolina and we have one flower that comes up and spreads every year. My mom and stepdad call it 'purple mountain sunflower', but I can't find a match by that name searching online so I'm pretty sure its just a colloquial name for the plant and would like to know what it *actually* is.

That's it! Thank you so much! Now I can finally tell my stepdad that 'purple mountain sunflower' is NOT the name of the plant XD
