Help! What is this spider in my kitchen??

Cardiff, United Kingdom

This spider and her sisters are living in my kitchen behind the washing machine.. I'm not scared if spiders but this one makes me quite uneasy!! Should I be worried? I know it's not a black widow because Iive in the UK but is looks more like a real one than a false one.. Your thoughts appreciated!

This is a cobweb/comb-footed spider in the genus Steatoda, possibly Steatoda grossa. Some spiders in this genus are referred to as 'false widow' spiders - see They can give a painful but not dangerous bite, but usually only if you were to pick one up carelessly.
