This plant's green leaves have been growing by my front steps for years, but this is the first time it has bloomed. It bloomed about the middle of April, in north Louisiana. The green leaves are about 12 inches long and 3/4 inch wide. They turn brown on the tips and looks as though there are sharp pins on the tips, but the tips are soft. The leaves look like "bear grass" leaves. The plant puts up a flowering stem that is 30 inches tall. See pictures.
