Ornamental sweet potato tubers

Hobart, IN

I saved the tubers from last year's ornamental sweet potatoes - I wanted to experiment growing them and I'm cheap. They look to be free of blemishes and they've been washed and left open to ambient air temp and humidity and no wrinkling. Does anyone know the best time to plant these in pots for late May plant-out? I can grow them indoors so light and heat are not a problem.
