Ornamental Grasses

Great Neck Plaza, NY

I'm about to cut down my ornamental grasses, and I'd like to use them on my garden paths. I usually use Cedar Mulch. Has anyone else out there used ornamental grass clippings in this manner, and has it proven effective? Thank you.

Contra Costa County, CA(Zone 9b)

If the grasses have gone to seed then you may be spreading the seed, to become a nuisance.
Otherwise, grasses should work as part of the mulch. I think the grasses will break down faster than the cedar mulch.
I have straw over the paths in my vegetable beds. First year I have done this; I usually use tree company chips. It has only been in place for a month or so. It is OK so far.
