I don't know how to start this. I have 2 pound puppies - (actually 5 and 12 yr olds) with me now, but when I my ex husband and I split up he took my Daisy with him. Well he called tonight, he can no longer keep her and she's coming home for good.
Daisy is special, she's 90 pounds of pure bred white, deaf boxer with one blue eye and one brown eye. Yep - deaf as a door nail. The disposition of a saint and the heart of a child and she's coming home.
Now to the fun part, I've spent 2 years without her and am not sure that I will remember all of the "signs" that I taught her or even if he has used those same "signs" (my own doggy sign language) for the past 2 years. My son is so excited he is crying. The bond between the 2 of them is incredible. He cut his first 2 teeth on her legs. (honest - she is that gentle with him) He was so tiny and she the gentle giant would nudge him when she had had enough or simply roll over and give him a different leg.
I'm so excited, nervous, and thankful to be getting her back. Is there anyone else out there with a deaf dog??
Sorry I'm rambling but I was pregnant with Brad when I got her and now at the same point in my second pregnancy (another boy)-- she's coming HOME!! What a Christmas gift - I couldn't ask for anything more.
