I'd like some information on the runner bean so popular in Europe. I have seeds of the Scarlet Emperor to try this season and they look like Lima beans. I know that they like cooler conditions than Limas and I'm planning on putting them in a flowerbed, rather than in the veggie garden,as they will blend well with the other plants that I'm planning for there.

John, you might be able to give us Yanks some tips on culture and maybe some recipes also.

I've got long, hot, humid summers and was planning on maybe some afternoon shade. With temps that get near 100 and humidity levels not far from it either,I was hoping a little shelter would prolong their season.
