Can anyone help me identify these herb seeds. I received a free mixed bag of 17 seeds. Sweet Basil, chives, dill, sage, thyme, sorrel, coriander, summer savory, anise, borage, chervil, hyssop, lovage, sweet marjoram, fennel, caraway and peppermint. I only have 8 separated. #7 is brown and #8 is black. #5 smells like licorice.Thank you, Julie

Julie: #5 would be anise seed since it smells like licorice. Dill, fennel, lovage and I think caraway seed all look familiar to one another. Hold some of one lot in your hand for a few minutes to get them warm and then they should release an aroma, maybe you can identify these seeds that way. Lovage smells like celery. Basil is small round seeds, dark brown. Sage is a little larger than basil and is black. Thyme is very small seeds, almost dustlike and are brownish. Sweet Marjoram are very small seeds too. Hope this has helped a little.

4) Dill
5) ?
6) ?
7) Basil ?
8) Thyme ?? Maybe lemon balm or a mint
