Tis spring break and I am babysitting my darling granddaughters this week, ages 7 & 5.

I am planning on starting some annual seeds indoors, so have promised the girls that they are going to play in the dirt with my blessing. Will get them to fill up the 3 seedling flats that hold cell packs, with soil mixture. Then on Thursday we are going to plant them up.

I already have 250 cells 'winter planted' outside - 78 have germinated, now am planting tender annuals, herbs and veggies to be looked after inside as is about 6 weeks till our last frost date. Yipeee!!! Winter is over today is spring!! A georgous sunny day today bodes well for summer.

Well they played in the dirt and made a huge mess, had covered the kitchen table with newspaper but forgot to cover the kitchen chairs with paper. What a mess of soil ground into the seat cushions!! Oh well they needed a spring washing anyway.

All the flats are now filled with dirt and tomorrow we plant them up and wait with bated breath till they germinate.

Despite the mess grandma has to clean up, did the girls have fun?

Sounds fun! Dontcha just love dirt? The other day I was repotting things and I took a shower and went to work and realized that my fingernails were discusting!! Not used to having to scrub them after playing in the dirt. LOL!
Better have the little ones check their nails... get'em used to it early!
