I suggested this new forum to Dave, so want to kick it off with a few questions.
First off, how many members actually grow heirloom veggies? I mean, are we spinning our wheels here, or is there real interest?
Next, where do you mostly get your seeds:
Trades with other gardeners?
Commerical sources?
Collect in the field?
Other?
Next, our goal is to go beyond the typical "I have such and such" or "does anybody have" that you find on gw and other forums. Here we want to discuss all facets of heirloom vegetable growing: from planting, growing, harvesting, and seed saving; to history of varieties; to the nature of open pollinated plants, and issues like genetic vigor; to broader concerns like bio-diversity. Are we on track with this?
Let's hear from you with your thoughts and ideas.
