I think you are pretty smart when it comes to computer's so I thought I would address this problem to you and see if you could help me. Ok here goes... I was typing a regular e/mail letter and all of a sudden I got this blue screen that said "Windows protection error. You need to restart your computer. System halted" so the only thing I could do was turn off my computer and restart it...but since it was frozen on that screen, I had to do a improper shut down. Do you have any idea what it was?? O and when I got it back up and running, and signed on to AOL I recieved another error message that said "Run time error
Program:C:Program filesRealReal playerReal play.exe R6025 -Pure virtual function call" So what do you think?? Does anyone know??? This kinda scares me when weird things pop up like that, and I was right in the middle of writing a e/mail!!
TIA
Mollybee
You hit the button with a frowny face instead of the smiley face. Just kidding. It does scare me when things happen. I have the grandkids here tody and the 7 year old was on the computer and when I went to go on I got the box that said type in file name and I when I cleared it came back each time I tried to bring something up. I was worried until I shut down and rebooted and then everything seems to be ok.
Mollybee - Have you run Scandisk and Defrag lately? Sometimes things act wiggy when a program is having to hop all over the drive to get the data it needs.
Sorry that I didn't respond sooner Mollybee but my kids were here and they pretty much took over the computer.
Don't fret, it happens all the time, especially if you don't run scandisk and defrag regularly. Make sure you clean out your recycle bin and not sure what version of windows you have, but check under Programs, Accessories, system tools to see if you have a disk cleanup. Run that. Also go into your windows explorer, find the temp folder, delete everything in there, then find the temp internet files folder and delete everything in there. Also go to the cookies folder (you will have to know your passwords for DG and such because this will temp delete them so you'll have to sign back in) and delete all the cookies. There will be an index file in the cookies folder that will not be able to be deleted, it needs to stay there so best thing to do is to highlight it, then click on edit-invert selection, then delete. The cookies folder and temp folders and fill up with lots of junk and take up a ton of space on your computer. Clean out those folders first, then run scan disk and then defrag. Defrag will probably take at least an hour, if not more after deleting all those uneeded files. Let me know how it turned out after you're done :o)
