I just talked to my Great -grandmother Ella, and she is going to send me more rose starts this spring! I have a Dorothy Perkins rose, and one other, that are descendants of plants her mother grew, and now she is going to send me a moss rose, and a rugosa that are probably equally as old. I just wish I could get out there to ransack her garden for myself...she is not doing much at all anymore with it, as she moved down the hill from her old house, and she told me today that the brambles are taking over. She is on the coast in Oregon, and my climate is different, but I'd love to be able to preserve more of this family history, especially as our family has a habit of being rootless.
Anyhow, just my happy moment for the day, talking to her!
