My aunt gave me something a friend gave her. She said it was called Gabriel's Trumpet. It is just a stick about 1.5 inches in diameter. She said to just stick it in the ground and it will turn into a flowering plant. Does anyone know what this is? Or another name for it? Or its scientific name? Or more instructions on how and where to grow it? Thanks.

I think it is a Brugmansia or Datura.

Since Gabriel is mentioned in the Bible as an angel http://bible.whitinger.net/search.php3?search_text=Gabriel we must presume that this plant is actually an Angel's Trumpet, which would be a Brugmansia. Which one? We'll probably have to wait and see after it flowers. Plant it in the ground watch it go!

I have heard Beaumontia grandiflora called Gabriel's Trumpet, but I sure didn't think THAT was very easy to root! And it's a vine, whereas the brugs can make trees.LMK if it turns out to be a vine!
