So of course it wasn't until after I ordered Rosa Bianca seeds that I began researching and discovered that eggplants (native to India) need a hot growing season to produce fruit. The article I read was from "Taylor's Guide to Heirloom Vegetables". It appears that they will either not produce or stop producing flowers if the night falls to below 70 degrees- the article wasn't all that clear about it.
So what would you advise? I'm not going to give up until I at least try. I'm starting by buiding a small greenhouse-type box frame to close up when the nights get colder than 70 degrees. Anybody else in zone 5 ever grow eggplant? What are the horrors/successes?
