i have tried searching for the name of this baby, but all efforts failed.

i was sauntering around L.A, Ca. Chinatown yesterday when i noticed everyone buying this plant. they call it the Chinese lucky money plant. no it is not a lunaria. some of the ones i saw grew to a bush about 4' tall.

the plant is soaking on miracle grow cause it dried out while on journey.

i would like to know the specie name to learn more about the plant and give it the right growing media.

thanks in advance. ma vie

Looks like an Umbrella Tree-Schefflera. I grow mine in ordinary potting soil in the living room in subdued light.

Thanks Baa :)! it is Schefflera arboricola ... http://www.plant-care.com/PlantCareTips/030702.asp , deeply appreciate that!

that is very unlikely of me to buy plant out of impulse, but due to the fact i do live in an isolated area, and very rare to go into town. i have to succumb to personal whim at times.

My pleasure MVR. I have had mine for 15 years now, it's never grown tall but it has grown extra stems from the roots. I water it under the shower for about 15 minutes at a time, just 4 times a year. It has needed very little expect the odd change of pot and compost each year. They are a wonderful house plant and I hope they do well for you
