Last fall, Will Weaver sent me seeds for Parsley Pea, a rare variety that, instead of single curlycues puts out tendrils that are bushy, like parsley. That's the part you eat, rather than the peas, which are strictly seed.
Six months ago I had never heard of sweet habaneros. Now Jeff Nekola has sent me seed for, count 'em, six different kinds. These are, apparently, peppers with the smoky, tropical fruit flavor typical of C. chinense, but without the heat. He even sent me a Scotch Bonnet that has no pungency.
I was wondering, therefore, what offbeat or strange varieties you are growing, or know about. Not so much a strange species, but varieties of common species with offbeat or weird characteristics.
