Just a shot in the dark here ~ Wild Lettuce? Some other common and botanical names to research: Prickly Lettuce, Canada Lettuce, Lactuca canadensis, Lactuca serriola, Lactuca graminifolia and Lactuca biennis.

It most certainly isn't a Jerusalem Artichoke, my guess is something unpleasently weedy in the Senecio genus.
