I was just wondering on the picture and information of the above Knapweed ...the height was given at 24-36 inches...I have what I think is the same plant( 2 or 3 plants) ...but they are 6 feet or 7 feet tall in my yard...plants grew there wild...they contain 100 or so flowers on each plant...Do you think they are Knapweed or something else ???
the picture that I am comparing it to is
Viewing an Image of...
Common name: Persian Cornflower, Knapweed
Family: Asteraceae
Genus: Centaurea
Species dealbata
I will try and take a picture of them...but I dont have digital stuff...can anyone help me in identifing what I have growing...Tom in Pennsylvania
I doubt that it is the same plant, but there are lots of different types of knapweed/cornflower. I know there is a yellow one in the same family that gets really tall. I can't remember if I've read of a pink one for sure, but I think I have. This one is a fairly common variety. Usually covered in blooms from late spring to mid-summer. Nice, because it fills in a couple of blooming gaps.
Naturepatch , thanks for the response...the plant is now in its second or third week of flowering...bees sure love it...
hope some of my pictures turn out...it sure looks like the one I was talking about...but your right ...there are plenty of others that are similar...talk to you later ...Tom in Pa (PAplanter)
