Persian Cornflower, Knapweed
Centaurea dealbata

Long blooming and fragrant. Foliage lance shaped, pinnatifid, wavy-edged, green with white underneath.

I was just wondering on the picture and information of the above Knapweed ...the height was given at 24-36 inches...I have what I think is the same plant( 2 or 3 plants) ...but they are 6 feet or 7 feet tall in my yard...plants grew there wild...they contain 100 or so flowers on each plant...Do you think they are Knapweed or something else ???

I doubt that it is the same plant, but there are lots of different types of knapweed/cornflower. I know there is a yellow one in the same family that gets really tall. I can't remember if I've read of a pink one for sure, but I think I have. This one is a fairly common variety. Usually covered in blooms from late spring to mid-summer. Nice, because it fills in a couple of blooming gaps.

Naturepatch , thanks for the response...the plant is now in its second or third week of flowering...bees sure love it...
hope some of my pictures turn out...it sure looks like the one I was talking about...but your right ...there are plenty of others that are similar...talk to you later ...Tom in Pa (PAplanter)

What form of knapp weed is this beauty?
4foot tall, 4 inch flowers. wet soil, western New Mexico mountains 5,000 ft.
