I have two veronia species - side by side. I thought they were the same when I planted them but they are two different species. I hope some one can tell me the difference between the two? I'm quite sure one is veronia noveboracensis (New York Ironweed)... but which one?

I also should add the one on the left with the wider leaves was about 8 feet tall when in flower last year.

Poppysue: I have New York Iron Weed and mine got to be about 7 or 8 ft. tall last year too. I think it might be taller this year, already about 6 ft. tall. The one on the left looks like New York. Don't they have lovely blooms, I do like what they call weeds. I've always been for the underdog.

Debbie- did I get one of these from you? It was two different trades - so that's why I got two different plants. They just sulked the first year but last year they looked pretty good.
