This is an aroid that I bought a few years ago, tag was wrong. Photo of flower didn't develop, so I only have the leaf and leaf stalk to show, and a bad detail of the immature seedpod. This is the seedpod, and bottom of the leafstalk.

Arsenic, here is the base of the flower. This one is much better lit, but the colors aren't exactly perfect match. The foliage around it aren't part of the plant.

Is the yellowish thingy that's sticking out of the flower a spadix; or something else?

That is the empty seedpod cover. It tried to set seed (at least it formed this cover) but no seeds ever developed in it, and within a couple of weeks it had dried up and withered. When I initially posted this photo I thought seeds were forming, but they didn't.
