This one is another beauty of a flower, but its fruit will turn out to be a thorny little ball as can be seen there. Getting a prick in the foot is as painful as we can imagine. What is it named?

I think this one is Tribulus terrestris, family Zygophyllaceae, a spreading South African annual growing in warm areas.

That nasty thing grows here in Arizona, too. Punctures bicycle tires and bare feet. Ouch!

Maddy is right. It is commonly known as Puncturevine in the midwest. It reseeds like crazy.
