I have been searching for the name of this plant and here it is at last. "Impatiens balsamina." This picture looks like it came from my garden. I live in the province of Ontario, Canada and I moved into this new place in October and have no idea what is in the gardens. This spring I waited patiently for anything to come up and this plant was one of them. I am sorry to say that I ripped out three quarters of them because I thought they were weeds. And they were overshadowing some lilies that came up too. Thank goodness I left some of them. Some of the plants reached 8 feet and they were nice looking "weeds" ... and then they flowered with white and purple and pink flowers! I am so happy to find out the name and how they reproduce so now I can have them next year. Thank you very much! If I can I will post a picture of my plants, too.
