I am putting this on the heirloom thread because heirlooms are what I try to grow, although I realize it would be applicable to any vegie garden.
I saw a local man talking about placing gallon milk containers partially in the ground near the tomato plants and filling them with water twice a week in order to water the tomatoes without wasting water on other areas and to keep the leaves dry.
I assume (but would like verification) that I could use gallon planting pots (of which I have zillions), or soda or juice containers and so on.
I was also wondering if I could do this very same thing with peppers, and vine crops with success. It seems logical, but ...
