The flowers open in clusters of up to 20 blooms but they open over time. They start a deep mauve purple with a yellow throat. Over the next few days the color lightens up till it is lavender. In No, Ca. they do not bloom as profusely as Distictis buccinatoria. However, I saw the vine at Disneyland and it was covered in blooms. A very showy vine.
