    Hello,
Someone identified another picture for me as Blue Cohosh. It was a picture of the plant as it was just starting to grow and it looked purple. (I think I posted it under unknown woodland plant)
Well I was looking for a "purple" plant today, but this is what I found in the areas where I think I saw my "purple" plant aka Blue Cohosh growing earlier this spring.
Anyone know if this is the same plant?

I can't tell from the plant, but it almost looks like wild Sasparilla, aralia nudicaulis. if so, it will have three spherical clusters of flowers.

It looks like celendine to me. It would bleed bright yellow sap if you plucked a leaf from it.

I still think it's blue cohosh - look for small brownish maroon flowers in clusters. The "blue" is for the berries in the fall. the leaves are right.

I'm going to post a close up picture of the leaves. Maybe that will help to identify it better. There are no flowers on it yet and the books I have identify mostly by the flower. Wild Sasparilla blooms later in the season, so it could be that, can't eliminate any of the suggestions yet.
Please have a look at the other picture.
