Hi Weez,
I just purchased a pot of lemon balm..looks exactly like this photo of yours. Should I keep it in a pot on the deck..as it says it could be invasive in the garden?
Hi, Starzz
My lemon balm has never been invasive, but then, I live in Alaska, you know, so I'm lucky if it winters over! If you can compare it with mints, which can be invasive here, putting them in a pot is often a good idea. Of course, I have to bury the pots in mulch or soil to winter them over that way.
Lemon balm would make a lovely potted plant, particularly if placed on a level where you can touch it as you go by, for that lovely lemon scent.
Yes..I think that is what I will do then Weez. I'll keep it on a table on the deck and I can nip off a leaf as I go by to sniff, while I stroll around the gardens to see what is popping up. I do have mint in my garden and it sure does ramble.
Thanks.
Cheers,
Carol
Sounds like a good idea, Starzz... wandering aound the garden... what a concept! When the spring rush slows down, I'd like to stroll a bit myself. It's nice to have fragrant plants up off the ground, closer to nose level. After a hard day of gardening, my tired old body balks at getting down on all-fours to appreciate herbs!
