Bitty1, I feel a little silly answering your post since I'm a newbie, but MaVie instructed me in how to do this and I'll pass on the info. There might be other ways to do it, I don't know -- but I tried this method, and it worked.

1) Go to the site you want to make a hyperlink to.

2) Highlight the entire web address (called a url) of that site as it appears in the Location Bar of your web browser (the space where you type in the web address/url).

3) Go to the Edit menu (at the very top of your computer screen) and click on the word Copy.

4) Then go to any forum in Dave's Garden, write your post, and put the cursor wherever in the post you want the hyperlink to appear.

5) Go to the Edit menu and click on the word Paste. The term "Hyperlink" will appear in your post, and clicking on it will take you to that website.

If anyone knows other ways to do this, please let me and Bitty1 know. In the meantime, hope this helps.

That's right-on. I put up a mini-tutorial a while back with this and a few other tidbits, too: http://davesgarden.com/journal/vbc/gardenwife/5250/

The Irfanview one is a little outdated since Irfanview now has an option to create a panoramic collage; one might still wish to insert just a small image in a larger picture, though, so I left it as-is.

Bitty1, all the books in the "Dummies" line are good places to start learning about PC's and the Internet, or any other computer-related thing you want to know -- in many cases, they provide all the info you will ever need. "PCs for Dummies," "Windows for Dummies" and "Internet for Dummies" need to be on the bookshelf. Happy reading and computing!

I just right click on the url and then click copy. then go to where I want to place the hyperlink and left click to put my cursor there. then right click and click paste.

Oblambert, that's a good tip for PC users. Mac users don't have the right-click option. It would be a lot easier if they did! Thanks for sharing that method.

If it helps any, this http://www.myschoolonline.com/article/0,1120,12-8864,00.html says the Mac equivalents to the Windows commands "Control+C" and "Control+V" are "Open Apple + C" and "Open Apple + V".

I bet there's some Mac freeware or shareware out there which adds more right-click functionality for Mac users. Maybe some Mac-addicts can enlighten others?

So, you're one of those people, a Mac user? I am so disillusioned... ;) Actually, we'd like a Mac for doing photo editing, but that's a ways off!

Yup, I'm one of those -- but have a heart, Mac's fabulous for electronic imaging. And I DO use a PC for specific applications.

Bitty1: It might be helpful to tell you that when you paste the url into your message, it appears as it appeared on the url, but when posted just says "Hyperlink".

Dear Mrs. Gardenwife,
Apple (Mac) was the best for graphics way back when, but now there's nothing that PC can't do better. Your money would be better spent on the latest copy of PhotoShop or the like.

Thanks, Mr. Ulrich. :) We do have Photoshop 6...Drooling over Photoshop 7, but aside from a few neat new features, there's really not much point in spending the money for the upgrade.
