I have a couple of photos which have the dates on the front. How do I use irfanview to remove them?

Hmmmm...You'd have to crop the photo so the date is outside of the crop range, Sparks. Either that, or you could use PhotoPlus and try using the cloning tool to clone part of the image near it overtop the date.

Thank Kimberly, I did go to PhotPlus 8.0 and cloned over it. Works great. You could see one where a corner of the rectangle was not exat so took cloning tool and brushed in the those edges, worked fine. Thanks again.

Speaking of PhotoPlus -- Tell me what the advantages are to owning that versus the free version. Are there a great many differences?

Kimberly I really think there are a great number of differences but at the moment I am not sure what they are. Think it compares favorable with PhotoShop. The free version of PhotoPlus 6.0 has 116 pages in the book and PhotoPlus 8.0 has a 157 pages which I know doesn't really mean anything, the tutorial that comes with the resource disk is great. I am learning a lot. If you go to the Serf forum you can ask in there:
http://www.serif.com/forum/default.asp,
In fact I will do it, they are sure helpful in that forum. Go down to PhotoPlus forums and you will see a number of my questions. Naturally some of mine are dumb. :o)

Hi GW, didn't get much of answer about PhotoPlus 8.0 in the serif forum. Finally found the web site which speaks of everything new in 8.0. Was told this was over 7.0 so I guess there is even more in it over the free one. You can check this out: http://www.serif.com/photoplus/photoplus8/ph8_newfeatures.asp
I see the price listed now for 8.0 is $84.95, I got it on a promotional at $29.95 so feel real lucky. Hope this answers some of your questions.

If you search Google for PhotoPlus, you'll see their link up first. The version 5.5 is free, and it is super. :) Also I have a link at http://downloads.gardenwife.com

Thanks for the info on the PhotoPlus, GW. My computer had a fatal crash recently and I just now got a new computer and appreciated your site with all of the nifty programs on it. I had lost Irfranview as well as the digital image recovery one, along with all my bookmarks, of course. So I was very pleased to find your site again. Rose
