One of my favorite schrubs. I grew them in Florida, but haven't had any luck overwintering them in NE Georgia. An absolutely beautiful photo!

Yours apparently haven't turned color yet or are protected from the sun? I have always called this one Firebush. They are beautiful bushes. The one I have sitting in a pot in full sun has scarlet leaves on it. Talk about beautiful fall color! It seems to be a favorite nectar source for the Zebra longwings--these and the red porterweeds. Soon I will have several more in the back yard to go with the one in the front yard...

Help! Firebush devotees, I love them too but am an extreme novice. I have 4 in about the same area and same shade/water. 1 is dying, 2 are fruiting and have gotten very leggy with only a few bright red leaves, and one is beautifully flowering with full leaves. Should I cut the fruiting ones back? Thanks.

Are they getting a lot of water? Sun or shade doesn't seem to play that much of a role except in the color

Our plant gets a lot of shade from a big oak and little water other than what nature provides and it is doing incredibly well, getting huge and very full. It's really been a no care plant for us...

This might be a good question for the Florida Gardening Forum or the Tropicals forum

Good luck with your plants
