Greater Periwinkle
Vinca major

Flowering plants, in spring 2002. These formed almost a hedge, about 50 cm high. Foliage is not variegated here - from preceding photos one gets the impression it usually is, but with us in the Netherlands this is only a minority.

Thanks for posting that pic. I am thinking of using Vinca M. for my mailbox area - - does this particular color have a name?

Though the flowers in the picture of course aren't the same colour everywhere, their natural colour is nearest to "blueviolet", which you can use as a background colour (bgcolor="blueviolet") in web-pages; the hexadecimal code is: "#8a2be2".

I have had some periwinkle for some years and it has become an awful nuisance--covering everything in its path and keeping me busy trying to remove it. I did not know this when I planted it. I must say the plant and flowers are very attractive, no pests. Proceed at your own risk.
