I have heard that some species of orchids cannot tolerate temperatures under 50 degrees F. I have always brought mine into the garage when the nighttime lows are supposed to drop below 50. I have Dendrobiums, Cattleyas, and Phalanopsis orchids. Based on what I have read, I think the dendrobiums are ok down to about 40F, but what about the other two? Am I babying them too much and preventing flowering by putting them in the garage? Here is one of my dends.
