No, I bought this in a 1gal container. I have it planted in the ground near my patio, so it is sheltered a bit. I also cover it if the temperature is below freezing. I really recommend this plant, it is a joy to behold all summer! Thanks for your interest,

Yvana, I love this plant too - I have one, but was afaid to leave it out for the winter. I live in Jonesboro - I would be interested to know if yours survives the winter. Have you left it outside bofore??
Yes, it survived last year when covered any time it was below freezing. This year it is doing good, too. I cover them with a vinyl tablecloth with felt lining and it doesn't bother them too much. I even have a few babies that are surviving, which were branches that dropped off and I stuck them in the ground. They are still alive! Does yours overwinter in the garage, greenhouse or inside? How does it do? Stay warm,

I have a small green house I keep mine in - have a lot of cuttings started for spring tho - I'm so glad to hear they will survive here, I think a little bed of them would be wonderful. Or,along the no side of my house along a shaded sidewalk. Dave posted a picture of his right out in the sun, I thought they needed some shade.
I grow mine in full sun. One of my favorite plants. I bought the new, darker pink one with the leaves that are burgundy on the underside and I didn't think it was nearly as pretty as this one. I keep mine in a north bedroom window during the winter and just keep cutting it back and rooting more all winter. I think this is one of the easiest tropical plants there is. No bugs bother it and it seems to thrive no matter what the conditions. Nice picture yvana.
Oh Brugie - what's your secret!!! Just today I found a cluster of those nasty little mealy bugs under several leaves. I just drowned those little things with 1/2 water & alcohol - this works pretty well on them and aphids too. Hope you don't get them. I have a small white Justica too, but have yet to see it bloom.
I have mine in a spot by the backdoor where it gets bright sun, but afternoon shade. Since it is right outside the door, it's easier to cover it in the winter too. (Don't have to worry about as many bugs, either) Brugie, the burgundy tipped ones sound like they would be beautiful. I have seen picture of yellow ones too. Anyone heard how they do?
