I think I just found the next vine for my deck. Any idea if this will do well in a large pot? Otherwise my conditions are fine for this. I lived in Sonoma County and remember this plant fondly, but have never tried them in So Cal.

I can't imagine that it would be a problem to raise this in a pot. In fact, it might help keep this under control! In a pot you might have to water it more; in the ground it takes relatively little (good soil/mulched). Sunset garden guide lists this as suitable for Western zones 17-24. It was planted in March 2002 but didn't bloom until December 2002.

Thanks, of the other plants that I loved from up north and have tried to grow here, the ones that have done the best are the acid-lovers. I just dump my coffee grounds in a gallon of water into the pot every morning. The soil here is so alkaline that I've only had success with the pot-grown ones, where I have a little control over the pH and moisture. This looks like a good bet and is on my list for the nursery for next week.
