DOES ANYONE HAVE INFO TO OFFER FOR AN 1800'S GARDEN (30X30) WE ARE BUILDING IN HONOR OF A SLAVE THAT TOOK REFUGE HERE IN ELMIRA AFTER RUNNING FROM LEESBURG,VA AND BECAME AN IMPORTANT LINK IN HELPING TO FREE SLAVES THRU THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD HERE. HE ALSO WAS SEXTON OF OUR NATIONAL CEMETARY, BURYING AND KEEPING RECORDS OF CONFEDERATE AS WELL AS YANKEE SOLDIERS. HE BOUGHT AND PAID FOR HIS HOME THAT WE ARE RESTORING INTO THE JOHN W. JONES MUSEUM. WHAT WOULD HE AND HIS FAMILY HAVE GROWN FOR THEMSELVES AND HUNGRY FUGITIVES BACK THEN IN A SMALL AREA?
